The Lady Mico Trust

The longer I live, the more I am certain that the great difference between men—between the feeble and the powerful, the great and the insignificant—is energy, invincible determination—a purpose once fixed, and then—death or victory! That quality will do anything that can be done in this world, and no talents, no circumstances, no opportunities, will make a two-legged creature a man without it.

In recent years all available finance has been directed towards the work of the University College, in which the trustees maintain a strong interest and continues to contribute greatly to the training of teachers at the University College. The Trustees consider that, within their limited resources, they have fully complied with the duty of Public Interest laid upon them under section 4 of the Charities Act 2006. Since the beginning of the Lady Mico Trust, members of the Buxton family have lead in the sustainability and mission of the Trust. Another note of significance is that in over 150 years of history of the Lady Mico Trust, Professor the Honourable Errol Lawrence Miller, OJ. was the first and only citizen outside of the United Kingdom that was accorded the position as Trustee of the Lady Mico Trust. In the year 2000, the assets of the Lady Mico Trust in Jamaica were presented to The Mico Foundation, which now acts as the chief custodian for all tangible assets of The Mico.
