The alumni and friends of this great institution have often thought of giving back to The Mico for the tremendous work it has done in education and social reform in the Jamaica and the wider Caribbean. The endowment provides the opportunity to fulfill that long awaited dream of giving back. If you are considering making your first charitable donation to The Mico, the Foundation provides a safe and secure avenue through wish you can be assured that your donation will serve your desired intention.

Partnerships

By partnering with The Mico Foundation in support of the endowment fund your organization has taken an important step toward the financial sustainability of The Mico University College to continue its long history in teacher education. The endowment provides a reliable source of funding in diverse areas of education, development, and welfare.

Donors can be assured of the credibility and management of their donations to achieve the stated objectives. Let us raise the bar of excellence through partnership. An annual financial audited by PricewaterhouseCoopers will be made available to all donors or as required.

Family Endowment

Many families dream of contributing to educational institutions either to honour a family member or by a charitable gift to recognize the institution's impact on nation-building. The Mico University College, established more than 185 years ago has had a tremendous influence on the education and social development of Jamaica and the wider Caribbean. Indeed it would be very difficult to find a family in Jamaica that has not been directly or indirectly impacted by a Miconian. In acknowledging this fact and the need for its continuity you may wish to consider establishing an endowment in this bastion institution for educational development. The Mico Foundation provides a great and noble opportunity for you to fulfill this dream. You may also want to bequeath to the Foundation, property, real estate, or any assets that offer long-term investment in education in your family's name. The endowment is a discrete asset-building mechanism managed by The Mico Foundation and its investment team to ensure productive financial returns and the protection of your tangible gifts. Families have the option to decide how the family name can be perpetually associated with The Mico University through their estate. The family endowment is initiated with a contribution of USD 50,000.00 or its Jamaican equivalence.

Corporate Company

A company can exercise its corporate social responsibility by donating to The Mico University College Education Development Fund. The company may select to support a specific aspect that impacts teacher education and or student development and welfare. The selection can be made from the following areas:

Faculty and infrastructure development / Library and Technology Development / Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship / Students Housing and Accommodation / Creative Arts, Culture and Sports / Land acquisition / STEM/STEAM

Individual Sponsorship

This is sponsorship for a full academic scholarship with a minimum donation of JA$1.8Million or USD$12,000.00. The decision on the academic area for support may be made by the donor. All scholarship contributions and pledges can be made using the Endowment Form.

Research Grant

The Research Grant is a financial award for the dedicated use of educational research. The minimum grant contribution is JA$2,500,000.00 or USD$15,500.00. These donations will provide opportunities to research and disseminate the findings including new knowledge or perspectives on educational policies, technology, and education, diversity in special education, teacher training post-COVID pandemic, and other contemporary issues in teacher education.

Endowment Grant

The Endowment Grant is a charitable gift that the University may use to support any area of need. A donor may or may not identify the use of such Grant Fund, however, The Foundation, in consultation with the donor, may evaluate and determine its use. The primary contribution for an Endowment Grant is a Jamaican Dollar (JMD) $100,000.00, which may be given annually for as long as the donor wishes. A donor may upgrade his/her grant to a full endowment, for which the primary contribution is JMD 5,000,000, conferring membership in the Silver 1836 Club. Contributions of 15 and 25 million will be awarded the gold and platinum status respectively in the 1836 Club. Club members may be eligible for the Mico Foundation’s honorary biennial "Super Omnia." award.

Creative Arts, Culture and Sports Development Grant

The holistic development of prospective teachers of physical education and sports fosters their physical, social, and emotional health while honing special skills in sporting disciplines. The Mico University College has been a major participant in intercollegiate sports and has been preparing athletes who have not only participated at the highest national and international levels but have also been outstanding teachers of sports and games. Critical to the process of physical education, training and development are the facilities to ensure adequate preparation of teachers and athletes. The challenge to provide and maintain sporting facilities is ongoing and it requires significant expenditure. The Mico Foundation is cognizant of the need for consistent and adequate funds to ensure optimum output of physical education teachers and student athletes. The Sports Endowment Fund has been launched to expand and achieve excellence in physical education both in the training of professionals and student performance.

The objective is to build a Multipurpose Sports Development and Wellness Centre. Our target is $USD20,000,000.00.

The Foundation functions as the entity that ensures interaction, communication, and consensus among all entities within Brand Mico for the common good of The Mico. Since its inception it has acquired properties, constructed buildings invested in the development of assets and is engaged in major income bearing enterprises in support of expanding the reach of the University College.
